>Toronto, Canada – GAO Comm recommends this variable optical attenuator featuring low insertion loss, high return loss and low PDL. The manual attenuator is intended for power control and equalization for CATV, WDMs, FTTx, OADM and measurement instruments. It is commonly deployed in fiber optic systems where the optical power from the source is too high for the test equipment in use. The PC board mountable attenuator is an ideal solution for markets requiring cost-effective systems.
GAO Comm’s manual variable optical attenuator has an epoxy-free optical path and is highly stabile and reliable. With insertion loss of less than 1.5dB, return loss of over 55dB and PDL of less than 0.2dB, the attenuator reduces the amplitude, or power, of a signal without appreciably distorting its waveform. It works at wavelengths from 1290nm to 1625nm, and its maximum handling power is 300mW. The attenuation level in dB ranges from 10dB to 45dB and is adjustable at intervals of 0.5dB.
