Portable Optical Fiber Identifier for Fiber Networks

March 15th, 2012 Posted inGAO Comm News

Toronto, Canada – GAO Comm is offering its portable optical fiber identifier which is an essential tool in the installation and maintenance of fiber networks.

This portable optical fiber identifier, model C0230002, features easy-to-use “ONE KEY”operation, low bending loss, highly efficient output and mechanical damp design of adapter heads to ensure no fiber damage. It employs safe and reliable macro bending technology to avoid disruption of network communications that would normally be caused by disconnecting or cutting a fiber optic cable for identification and testing.

Using an Ø1mm InGaAs detector, it efficiently identifies the traffic direction and signal frequency including 270 Hz, 1 kHz and 2 kHz with an audible indicator which activates an intermittent tone in the presence of traffic. It also identifies the wavelength range of 800 to 1700 nm and displays the core power of the fibers from -50 to 0 dBm. It provides easy-to-replace adapter heads of Ø0.25, Ø0.9, Ø2.0, and Ø3.0 to match various optical cables. The optical fiber identifier is encapsulated within a durable metal housing and is powered by a 9 V alkaline battery. All in all, this optical fiber identifier is ideal for the maintenance of telecommunication and CATV systems and other fiber optics networks.

This portable optical fiber identifier belongs to GAO’s family of Optical Fiber Identifiers. This line also includes Compact Fiber Optic Identifier which is intended for engineers and technicians to identify dark or live fiber and excessive losses due to misalignment of mechanical splices or poor connections.
