Advanced TDR Cable Fault Locator

Toronto, Canada – GAO Comm has announced the release of its communication cable fault tester which combines advanced multi-functional automatic communications with portability and ease of use. It integrates the functions of an OTDR, an ohmmeter, a megohmmeter and an automatic bridge into a single instrument. This communication cable fault tester is widely used for acceptance and maintenance of lines and inspection of cable characteristics and faults such as core wire breakage, misconnection, water absorption and poor insulation

The intelligent communication cable fault tester, model A0080002, has a multi-language interface, three testing clamps and one connection for complete measurement. It uses CAC and DAGC + DWAR technology for waveform visualization and features safe operation under high voltage. The smart switch-mode power supply and battery charger protect against such conditions as over-voltage, over-current, short-circuit and reverse connection of power supply. This cable fault locator communicates with a computer via an RS232 interface for data exchange and the estimated rate of data transmission is up to 11.2 kb/s. This tester can operate continuously for up to 20 hours with an internal LG 2 Ah rechargeable lithium battery. The backlit LCD screen is able to clearly display six resistance values between the A, B paired lines and the connection line. Moreover, this high performance communication cable fault tester provides an IEC60529 IP02 protection rating allowing it to perform well even in harsh environments.

Easy-to-Use Digital Insulation Resistance Tester

Toronto, Canada – GAO Comm is announcing the release of its easy-to-use digital insulation resistance tester packed with rich features. This digital insulation resistance tester is designed to predict, prevent and identify insulation failures and tests most electric equipment and insulation materials such as transformers, electro-motors, cables, switches and appliances. This digital insulation resistance tester, model A0070001, features an auto step measurement function which enables it to gather insulation data at difference voltages. It measures alternating current and tests insulation resistance of up to 2000 MΩ and voltage below 750 V AC. The tester has a built-in high power voltage generator with adjustable output testing voltage of 250, 500 and 1000 V depending on specific requirements. Higher voltage models are available. Handheld Signal Level Analyzer

Toronto, Canada – GAO Comm is offering its handheld signal level analyzer which is specially designed and manufactured for CATV system installation and testing. It measures CATV TILT, C/N, and trunk cable voltage effectively and accurately. The high performance analyzer features auto-off time setup, level unit setup, frequency setup, TILT channel setup, channel plan selection, channel edition and channel sorting. It belongs to GAO’s CATV Meter & Instrument family of products.

This portable signal level analyzer, model 8385, tests CATV signal levels in both channel and frequency modes. In ‘SCAN’ mode, the analyzer scans all channels and records signal levels in internal memory for later analysis. In “SPECTRUM” mode, the analyzer displays the spectrums and tests frequency range. It functions over a wide frequency range of 5 MHz to 870 MHz and offers a level range of 30 dBμV to 120 dBμV at a high accuracy of ±1.5 dBuV (indoor temperature) or ± 2.5 dBuV (-10°C to 40°C). The analyzer is also able to scan up to 125 channels at a speed of 30 ch/m within its operating range. It stores twenty-four groups of scanned data (up to 100 channels per group) and offers interchangeable BNC or F connectors. Included software is compatible with Win9x, WinNT, and Windows XP for easy system setup. It is powered by AC supply or a 7.2 V rechargeable battery for more than 3.5 hours continuous operation. Its simple operation and light weight design makes it ideal for field use.

High Performance Fiber Optic OTDR

Toronto, Canada – GAO Comm offers its high performance fiber optic OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) which is a cost-effective test unit to locate fault points in long-distance transmission fibers. It saves up to 300 test curves and can transfer them to a computer for further analysis, reporting and printing via included software. This OTDR is complete with adaptors for connection to different fiber types. In addition, it is resistant to dust, moisture and shock allowing it to perform well even in harsh environments.
