CATV Cable Fault Locator Features Self-Study Function

February 10th, 2011 Posted inGAO Comm News

Toronto, Canada – GAO Comm has rolled out its CATV cable fault locator that provides the correct pulse for propagation specific to different cable types. It is able to automatically locate and indicate the distance to many kinds of RF cable faults such as short circuits, open circuits or high resistance points. It provides an intuitive electronic map relevant to the time domain picture for easy fault detection.

The smart cable fault locator, model 6130, uses Time Domain Reflection (TDR) technology and has double cursor LCD display. It features self-testing and powerful analysis functions. It can make accurate re-tests of similar cables after calibration and tests are made to a given cable of a certain length. This locator is widely used in testing cables of 25, 50, 75ohm and 100 Ohm impedance over a long measurement range from 15 m to 2 km. It is specially designed for finding out the impedance break point in HFC systems to locate and reveal cable damage, tie-in dampness as well as terminal impedance failure. In addition, it can be connected to a computer for file upload and data analysis.
