Toronto, Canada – GAO Comm has rolled out its innovative optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) designed for Fiber-to-the-x (FTTx) network testing. The handheld OTDR is used in the manufacture, construction and maintenance of fiber optic communication systems. It locates faults or breaks of optical fiber and measures the physical characteristics including length, transmission loss and splice loss.
This compact optical time-domain reflectometer, model 6416, features a short event dead zone of 1.6m, a high resolution of 0.25m, 65535sampling points? and a long operating time of more than 10 hours on a single charge. The lightweight OTDR offers four optional wavelengths including 1310nm, 1550nm, 1625nm and 1490nm. It supports Bellcore GR196 file format for file management. This rugged OTDR provides dual USB interfaces supporting both USB stick and direct cable download to a PC via ActiveSync. It is equipped with an anti-reflective TFT LCD screen for clear view and a comfortable strap for easy carrying.
