Plug-in Fixed Attenuators Cover a Wide Range of Applications

December 23rd, 2009 Posted inGAO Comm News

Toronto, Canada – GAO Comm has rolled out its innovative plug-in fixed attenuators designed for use in telecommunication networks, optical fiber CATV networks, local area networks and optical sensors and optical fiber to household systems. These attenuators are designed to reduce the amplitude, or power, of a signal without appreciably distorting its waveform. They are especially useful for optical systems where the optical power from a source is too high for the test equipment in use.

GAO Comm’s plug-in fixed attenuators introduce an in-line fixed loss that will reduce the source power to an acceptable detection level. They are optimized for dropped fiber technology and are available with various different connector types and end face configurations. The high performance attenuators feature high stability, low insertion loss and precise attenuation. They work over a wavelength range of 1260nm to 1620nm at a maximum handling power of 1W. The attenuation level ranges from 0dB to 25dB at an interval of 0.5dB. In addition, these attenuators can be used to lower voltage, dissipate power and improve impedance matching.
